Silhouettes Lounge is fairly new on the sushi scene in Trinidad but that doesn't mean they don't deserve some recognition. We were invited by their Chef Ravina Maharaj to have a tasting so as a result we will not be covering customer service. While chatting with her we got a sense of what they want to accomplish with the lounge and for readers in central and east you will be pleased to know that there is a trendy spot you can go to, located in Valpark Shopping Plaza, without the drive into Port of Spain.
A classic but very easy to mess up roll, however Silhouettes does it right. Well-seasoned and just the right size I recommend this roll for new sushi eaters that want to be a bit more adventurous.
According to Chef Ravina "It's the most ordered roll on our menu". And rightfully so, it's a tempura roll loaded with shrimp, crab, cream cheese and sesame seeds. More or less a conventional roll that you can introduce a person new to sushi with.
Another tasty roll this time with a combination of salmon and tuna...can you say yum!
Maki rolls are not for everyone but I suggest you sum up the courage and try Silhouette's. A combination of salmon and tuna ceviche rolled in nori, in the perfect little bite.
named after the creator's niece, by far my favourite. Tuna, Salmon, Cucumber, and red bell pepper topped with nitsume (eel sauce). Nothing more to say other than I love this roll, well done!
I am not a fan of cooked rolls as my love for sushi over the past 23 years has progressed to an obsession with sashimi, however I fully recommend Silhouette's Lounge for new sushi lovers as their rolls are suitable for our local palette as well as being considerate for the more reserved eater. - RJ
