At the request of our readers The Bill Check team found itself in Freeport to sample the cuisine and service of the dual combination of Prestige Lanes lounge and Upper Crust "Bistro". Personally I was quite intrigued to see what exactly a "bowling themed" lounge looked like from a local perspective and I must say; it was quite underwhelming. The only bowling paraphernalia found came in the form of bowling balls stacked in rows inside the base of the tables present.
After being promptly seated, drink orders were made. The 20 minute wait for two cocktails and a beer drew my attention to the bar, where lo and behold, was our waiter making said cocktail, he apparently was also the bartender. Overwork your staff much Upper Crust? This obviously put a damper on the speed at which we were served.
Broccoli Cheddar Soup
While Broccoli Cheddar soup is widely known to be creamy and smooth this was not. With a grainy consistency and lacking in both cream and cheddar, under seasoned and unappealing to the eye, I would not recommend this soup to anyone.
Dry in texture and lacking flavour. Not much else to be said but one reviewer did describe it as no better than "The kind of food served at a five year old's birthday".
Four Seasons Pizza
Thin crust topped with smoked salmon, capers, arugula, tomato sauce, ricotta cheese. The crust looked beautiful but got really hard after sitting for a few minutes. They opted to cook the smoked salmon which was a terrible idea as it was severely overcooked and flavour didn't meet the standards of premium quality. Capers are a tricky ingredient, they come in all sizes and choosing to put the largest of them all, resulted in each bite being overly salty. It also didn't help that their sauce tasted like thinned out tomato paste. Ricotta cheese wasn't smooth in texture and it wasn't enough to balance the tangy and salty taste in each bite. Arugula was a no show instead we saw baby spinach again over cooked and not pleasing to the eye. This pizza was also completely void of that smokey tell tale flavour of a brick oven pizza.
On a better note this drink could be one of the best Bloody Mary cocktails that I've had. Great flavour and and perfect balance between alcohol and tomato juice.
Long Island Ice Tea
Not one of the better drinks on their menu, the taste of tequila was so strong you can barely taste anything else.
A poorly themed venue with some of the worst dishes I've had and slow but friendly service, The Bill Check does not recommend this restaurant.
